Run a Mile in Another Person's Bowling Shoes

After two days off (which I attributed to a lack of drive combined with rainy weather), I went for a run this morning. It was a perfect day for running - a little windy, perhaps, but not too hot/too cool. If Goldilocks were a jogger, she, too, might have been satisfied with the conditions. As I'm just a novice running, it's fair to say I'm no Speedy Gonzales. Today I felt like a steady little locomotive,
chugging my way along...I think I could have made it all the way to Assiniboine Park, but I decided not to push myself too far beyond my abilities. I turned back after about 30 minutes, and headed back home. It feels great to set a goal and meet it! It makes me feel strong.

One thing I like about running is, it's usually great for clearing one's head. Today, though, I stubbornly mulled something that has been bothering me recently. (It's best to spit these things out rather than keep chewing over them, but we don't always do what's good for us.) At times like these, I wish that it were possible to swap the "souls" of our shoes with someone else so that he/she could run a mile in our tracks and vice-versa.

I'm determined to
